Sitting by the T.V. on my nightstand, I looked over from
watching T.V. A book, not just any book, but my Book. And it was calling to me.
I picked up the book and flipped it open. All noises everywhere in my house
vanished as if a white wave of endless quiet washed over me. As I started
reading, in my mind shapes formed, then turned into the characters in my book.
Suddenly hours have gone by. I closed the Book and noise hit me like a brick
wall.
When I read, I get taken away into the book and nothing
else matters. The world could be ending, and I wouldn’t even notice. I first
got into reading when I was old enough to read chapter books and could read
them well in 2nd grade. At
that time, I was reading at 4th grade level. I loved the chapter
books I read then but love the ones I read now in 8th grade even
more. I am into adventure, fantasy, suspense, and medieval. The Throne of Glass
series is an awesome series for me. Suspense, the thing that gets me hooked into
books, is the main reason I read the Chronicles of a Scythe, which are full of
suspense and unsuspected twists and turns. I like to read the adventure series
too, Erin Hunter’s Warrior series got me started in it and is an exceptional
series. I have read many medieval books, such as Ranger’s Apprentice. Ranger’s
Apprentice is very thrilling because of the descriptive detail of how they do
things and it helps you picture everything in your mind. But back on track. I
get taken into each of these books and see either from the narrator’s view and
can see everything and get mad and excited for the characters; or from the
characters point of view and get frightened or scared when something comes up I
didn’t expect.
Whether the book is supposed to be or not I’m always full
of suspense. I love books so much that when I read before bed, I always go over
what could happen next and it is usually very bad or very good. But, as usual
I’m always wrong with my predictions. I am totally surprised when what I suspected
was horribly wrong and it is something entirely more exciting. The thing that
makes my passion different from my other hobbies is that the amount of time I
put into it instead of other hobbies or just sitting around is amazing. On
average I read for about 12 hours a week, and for some of you other hardcore
readers with more spare time then me that could seem rather small. Yet, I work,
I do chores, I heat my house with wood I cut and chop with my own two hands.
Then I read by the wood burner. But you other readers will understand the
amount of suspense and excitement you can put into a good book.
Now you all might see just how much I love books. Now if you
will excuse me, I have a nice, thrilling book to read.
